Ahlstrom completes sale of Osnabrück plant
Ahlstrom has sold its German plant in Osnabrück to Kämmerer, which already operates two machines at the site. The plant produces papers for wallcovers, poster papers and release liner.
Ahlstrom's German subsidiary with operations in Osnabrück has been sold to specialty paper company Kämmerer Paper Holding. The company reported that the sale, which was announced in November 2016, had now been finalised. The transaction price was not disclosed.
The Osnabrück plant was part of Ahlstrom's Filtration & Performance division and produces base papers for wallcovers, poster papers as well as release liners for self-adhesive labels.
Kämmerer produces pre-impregnated paper and abrasive paper backings on two machines at the same location in Osnabrück. The PMs have a total capacity of 40,000 tpy. The company's activities used to be part of Ahlstrom, but were bought out by the investment firm Perusa at the end of 2013 and subsequently operated under the old name of Kämmerer.
The transaction also includes Ahlstrom's 50% stake in AK Energie, which is the site's utility providing power and water treatment services. AK Energie had been operated by Ahlstrom and Kämmerer in a joint venture up until now.
