Regardless of the approval, the company currently had no plans for a significant capacity increase at the Gernsbach site in the 2016-2017 period, Mayr-Melnhof explained.

The Regional Council of Karlsruhe, Germany, has given Mayr-Melnhof permission to increase recycled cartonboard capacity at the Gernsbach mill. According to the notice published by the authorities at the end of 2015, production capacity of BM 2 may be raised from currently 684 t/day to 1,200 t/day or 400,000 tpy.

In Gernsbach, Mayr-Melnhof runs one BM with a machine width of 3,30 m and is producing coated duplex (GD), coated triplex (GT) and grey board in basis weights ranging from 250 g/m² to 600 g/m². The company is requested to commence with the expansion project within three years of the enforceability of the decision otherwise the permit will expire, the authorities informed.

Regardless of the approval, the company currently had no plans for a significant increase in capacity at the Gernsbach site in the 2016-2017 period, Mayr-Melnhof explained. The realisation of the project would depend entirely on market demand, it added.<spanTimes New Roman"" lang="EN-GB">
