Cascades will disclose additional information about the production start-up at Norampac and Greenpac mills as soon as it is known.

Cascades has temporarily halted production at the Norampac Industries and Greenpac containerboard mills in Niagara Falls following a massive recovered paper fire. According to Cascades, the fire occurred on 20 September in the recovered paper stock area outside the mills for unknown reasons and the causes of the fire are currently being investigated by the local authorities. The company reported no injuries among the 255 employees working at the two production facilities.

Norampac Industries containerboard mill produces approximately 250,000 tpy of recycled corrugated medium. Greenpac containerboard mill has an installed capacity of 490,000 tpy, producing recycled linerboard. "At this time fire fighters are still onsite and it is still too early to know when the mills will resume production", Cascades explained in a press release on 21 September.
