Boiler explosion halts production at Cartiera Cama

Cardboard production at the Italian Cartiera Cama in Lallio near Bergamo is down due to a boiler explosion. The blast occurred early in the morning on 25 November killing one person and cutting steam and electricity supply to the board machine. The company and the authorized investigative agencies are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Cartiera Cama runs one board machine with a maximum web width of 2,400 mm and can churn out some 30,000 tpy. Meanwhile, die-cutting and laminating operations at the Lalio site have been restarted, the company says. When cardboard production will resume is still unknown.
