Cascades is announcing the closure of Norampac’s converting facility in Le Gardeur,Québec. Le Gardeur plant, which specialises in the conversion of corrugated products, is expected to close before the end of 2011, the company says. Nearly 50 employees will be affected. Cascades explains its decision to cease operations at the Le Gardeuer plant with the weak demand in the Canadian corrugated board industry and the necessity for additional consolidation in Norampac’s corrugated products converting operations in Québec.
