Mondi says it was not affected by EC inspections at any of its premises.

The European Commission (EC) has reported that its antitrust officials performed unannounced inspections of the premises of several companies in the kraft paper and industrial sack segment on 15 March 2016.

The EC announced it was concerned that the companies in question might have violated Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, which prohibits anti-competitive practices such as price fixing and customer allocation.

According to the EC, inspections took place in several EU member states, but it was not yet willing to disclose which countries were involved in the inspections.

With regard to the European Commission's inspections on suspicion of a cartel in the kraft paper and paper sack segment, Mondi Group said that it was not affected by the action. No investigations of any kind were performed on the premises of the company, Mondi said. The company operates in this market.
