EUWID modifies its reporting of RCP prices in Germany

Data will be collected after the end of the reporting month, price changes will be published around the 15th of the following month

EUWID is moving to retrospective reporting of price changes for the German recovered paper market, starting from the report on prices in June (see table in the Markets section). Where until now the price movements reflected the changes in the current month, future market reports will cover the changes applying for transactions completed in the most recently ended calendar month. The change in the reporting system is being made to resolve an on-going issue with the price reporting, namely that the data sets for any given month invariably contained late reports of price changes for the previous reporting period. The delayed reports could distort the reported price changes and kept price shifts from being fully captured by the index in the reporting month. The new system based on price changes reported for completed months is meant to eliminate this effect. As a one-time effect of this switch, the June 2017 figures reflect an extended reporting period.

From now on, the data will be collected in the first few days after the end of the reporting month and the price changes will be published around the 15th of the following month. If it is possible to publish this information earlier, EUWID will certainly do so.
