German market doubts increase in CWF paper prices

06 Mar 2012 −

Given the modest demand for coated woodfree paper in Germany, the price hike announced by manufacturers is viewed as nothing more than wishful thinking. Market observers believe that wholesalers will not follow suit in view of the knock-out competition that they face. CWF suppliers have been so flexible with pricing in the recent past that it will not be easy for them to regain lost ground, it is learnt.
Wholesalers have signalled that they will support price hikes where they are promising. However, several market players doubt that it is possible to raise prices for coated fine paper under current circumstances.
