German brown sack kraft paper prices lose ground in Q1

Prices for white sack kraft paper remain untouched in the first quarter 2015.

There has been some price softening on the German market for brown sack kraft paper at the beginning of the new business year. Buyers and converters reported that prices were lowered in many instances and that brown sack kraft paper is now selling slightly cheaper compared to the fourth quarter of 2014.

However, not all suppliers have reduced their unbleached sack kraft paper prices for deliveries in the first quarter 2015, a number of EUWID respondents said. One market observer explained that the price reduction applied only for B grades, while A grades remained unaffected.

Most sack kraft paper manufacturers were satisfied with demand at present. The typical season slowdown on the market was seen at the turn of the year, but call-offs had recovered again from early February. The order books are already well filled again for this time of year, according to industry representatives.
