Green light for energy-from-waste plant at DS Smith's Kemsley mill

|

DS Smith Paper has been given approval by the Environment Agency to power its operations in Kemsley with a new energy-from-waste plant. The Environment Agency held a public consultation before granting the permit. Its decision now follows the unanimous approvals from Kent County Council and Swale Borough Council.

The proposed facility is supposed to be fuelled by up to 550,000 tpy of pre-treated waste. Construction is planned to begin in spring 2013 and is scheduled for completion in 2016.
