Hamburger Containerboard inaugurates co-generation plant in Dunaújváros

Hamburger Containerboard has officially inaugurated its new co-generation plant at its recycled containerboard mill in Dunaújváros, Hungary.

On Hamburger Containerboard, a division of Austrian Prinzhorn Holding, has erected a co-generation plant at its recycled containerboard mill in Dunaújváros, Hungary, which cost €150m. On June 15, the ceremonial inauguration took place.

The new 172 MW combined heat and power plant is fuelled by biomass, coal and surrogate fuels, including residues from paper production. With a production capacity of 700,000 tpy, the Dunaújváros mill is considered to be the largest plant of the company.
