Hungary is conducting an anti-trust investigation intoseven sellers and distributors of sanitary paper products suspected of price collusion.

According to Hungary's competition authority GVH (Gazdasági Versenyhivatal), the anti-trust investigation involves Hungary's Vajda Papir and Hungarian subsidiaries of SCA Hygiene Products, Tesco Global, Auchan, Spar, Metro and DM-Drogerie Markt. GVH has concerns that market prices for certain tissue paper products may have been distorted through alleged anti-competitive behaviour, including direct and indirect negotiations on price increases and  exchange of pricing information.

GVH investigators have carried out unannounced inspections at the premises of the seven companies, Hungarian competition authority explained in a press release on 21 April. Under Hungarian law, the probe is expected to be closed within six months time but it could be extended two times by another six months.
