Italian ordinary recovered paper prices on the decline

Sellers of ordinary recovered paper grades in Italy felt the effects of falling prices in the Far East export business, as did other European markets. Prices on the domestic market were down as a result.

After important mark-ups in March, prices for ordinary recovered paper grades in Italy declined in April. Market players cited falling Far East export prices and therefore an almost complete stop in exports to China.

However, domestic prices were cut to a lesser extent than they were hiked in March. Market players said that paper producers in Italy were able to fill their warehouses, but supply was not described as extremely high. Some bank holidays occurred during the month and merchants felt that collection volumes were not that high.
