Buyers are paying more for label papers as of the first quarter. Manufacturers are still not satisfied with current price levels and do not rule out further price hikes in the third quarter.

After a long period of stability, label paper prices are on the upward trend in Germany. Label paper manufacturers have pushed through a price increase in the first quarter of the year. Prices for wet-strength, alkali-resistant paper grades rose by 1.5% to 2%, non wet-strength label papers cost up to 3% more than in the fourth quarter last year.

However, suppliers seem to be not satisfied with current price levels and are reportedly preparing the path for another price hike in the third quarter. If order inflow continued on the same level as in the first quarter further price hikes were as good as agreed, a label paper manufacturer explained.
