Low paper consumption in France leads to mounting pressure for uncoated woodfree papers in May.

Demand for uncoated woodfree papers remained mostly weak in May. Most sources think that slow demand since February is reflecting actual paper consumption. No major destocking was taking place, insiders said. Customers were buying what they actually needed.

Due to this potential surplus supply, prices have come under pressure, with first markdowns already emerging in the course of the month, especially for copy paper.
