Manufacturers do not exclude another increase in unlined chipboard prices in the case that recovered paper prices move higher again in the coming weeks.

Greyboard manufacturers could raise the price level on the German market by 1 August at the latest, following the recent upward correction to GD board prices. Some folding cartons producers cited still running contracts with board mills due to which prices were not negotiable but new contracts were signed at higher prices and existing price lists were modified.

Higher recovered paper prices demanded and enabled board mills to correct chronically unprofitable greyboard prices, producers explained. Operating levels are healthy with no indications of a summer lull on the market in Germany and delivery periods are higher than the usual 14 days.
