Activity on the GC market was a bit more hectic than expected in February. This was due to delayed deep sea deliveries in the wake of the dockers' strikes in Chile, the production stoppage at Skoghall as well as the announcement of the Djupafors closure. However, buyers were ultimately able to source all of the board they needed in time.

The last price negotiations for GC board are still under way, with British customers putting up especially fierce opposition. It is becoming apparent that quite a few converters escaped unscathed, others will have to pay more.

Normal activity with unchanged prices is reported from the GD sector. Carton makers would like to decrease prices on the basis of sinking recycled paper prices and the stronger pound sterling in March. Some suppliers, however, are eyeing an increase for April.
