A paper producer near Barcelona belonging to Spanish corrugated packaging group Grupondunova will modernise its paper machine and increase capacities of recycled corrugated case material.

Spanish corrugated case material producer Matías Gomá Tomás is planning to modernise its paper machine in order to increase capacities. Engineering company Valmet reported it was entrusted with the corresponding work at the PM. The rebuilt machine is scheduled to be put into operation at the end of February 2017.

The main goal of the modernisation project was to increase containerboard capacity, said Valmet. The machine speed is to be raised and runnability to be improved. Breaks would be reduced and drying capacity would be increased, the company added.

Matías Gomá Tomás belongs to Spanish corrugated packaging producer Grupondunova. Matías Gomá Tomás' mill in La Riba near Barcelona operates one paper machine which produces liner and corrugating medium based on recovered paper. It has a width of 5 m and can currently run at a speed of 350 m/min.
