Manufacturers expect NBSK pulp price to rise in November on low stocks and good demand.

Leading pulp producers have informed their customers that they will increase northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp prices with effect from 1 November. Most manufacturers see good chances of success for November price hikes. Low stocks and good order backlog created a good environment for NBSK prices to rise, EUWID respondents explained. It should not be particularly difficult to get the market to accept the price increase, they said.

Contrary to the expectations, prices for hardwood pulp also climbed in October. The industry is not expecting any further official calls for higher prices in the hardwood segment for November. For the coming month, manufacturers are said to have set their sights on eliminating bottom prices in order to narrow the existing price range.
