Norske Skog's Skogn mill has restarted newsprint production on its PM 2 after a nine-week downtime. 30,000 t of paper were taken from the market, the company says.

Norske Skog's PM 2 at the Skogn mill in Norway is up and running again. Production at the newsprint machine had been resumed on 27 August after an approximately nine-week downtime which had started on 23 June, a company spokesman said. A total of around 30,000 t of newsprint have reportedly been removed from the market as a result. The PM 2 has an annual maximum capacity of 165,000 t.

Norske Skog had announced this measure in April, saying it intended to reduce newsprint output in order to bring supply into line with demand and reduce costs. No seasonal holiday workers had been employed during this year's summer, resulting in savings, explained the spokesman.
