Pulp producers to hike NBSK prices on reports of good demand

Softwood and hardwood pulp prices increased in March. NBSK suppliers are aiming at another price hike of $20 per metr. t to be implemented for deliveries as of 1 April.

Northern bleached softwood kraft pulp (NBSK) prices rose in March and producers have been trying to push through another mark-up of $20 since 1 April. NBSK pulp manufacturers do not foresee any problems in raising prices in April as their books are reportedly well-filled with orders from Europe and Asia.

Order activity in the hardwood pulp segment is said to be good as well, which has made it easy for pulp manufacturers to raise prices by in March. There have been no official announcements regarding price hikes in April so far.

As a result of decreasing supply, fluff pulp prices are reported to have stabilised at in March. Announcements have apparently already been made for quotas on volumes and price increases of $30 for April deliveries.
