Q3 coreboard prices virtually unchanged on the market in Italy

Coreboard manufacturers are opting for more price hikes for deliveries as of October.

Third quarter has brought virtually no changes to coreboard prices in Italy. A few market players reported minor price movements. As a rule, however, prices have been stable since June.

Events surrounding recovered paper prices have left their mark on Italy's coreboard market, as well. The surge in recovered paper prices in July and August prompted coreboard manufacturers to seek higher prices for their products again after the last price hike in June. Many buyers confirmed to EUWID that suppliers had announced plans to tack on €15-30/t more for deliveries from October onwards. Manufacturers had got in touch with their customers directly and consciously decided to forgo official press releases this time around.

Suppliers were optimistic of achieving a portion of their goal, but were also aware that market conditions might complicate matters with demand nothing more or less than average. Quite a few buyers believed that manufacturers' current order books did not justify higher prices. What is more, it remained to be seen how recovered paper prices would continue to evolve until the end of the year.<spanTimes New Roman"" lang="EN-GB"> After rising in August, the upward trend in prices for ordinary recovered paper grades has come to a a halt in September and prices might subside in October, they noted.
