Saica starts up new PM 11 in Partington, UK

24 Jan 2012 −

Saica put the PM 11 in the new British mill in Partington into operation last week. According to company information, the machine, which has a capacity of 400,000 tpy of lightweight corrugated case material, produced the first reel of saleable paper on 18 January after initial test runs.
The PM 11 is the Spanish group’s last stage in building up an integrated paper and packaging business in the UK. With Saica Natur, the recovered paper business, Saica Paper, the paper production segment, and Saica Pack’s 18 corrugated board mills, the group now covers all the stages in the recycled paper and packaging production process. The company has invested approximately £300m in the new plant near Manchester. Construction work began in early 2010.
