Germany's packaging paper manufacturer Schoellershammer has announced a €60/t price increase for brown recycled corrugated case materials (RCCM), effective 1 February 2017.

The €60/t price increase reportedly applies to Wellenstoff, Fluting, Testliner and other brown recycled containerboard grades and will be communicated to all European markets except for Portugal, Spain, and the UK. The increase was related to the strong demand for packaging papers and would partly compensate for the significant loss of margins in 2016, Schoellershamer said.

In December 2016, Schoellershammer started up its second recycled containerboard machine at the paper mill in Düren, Germany. PM 6 has a web width of 5,6 m and an installed capacity of 250,000 tpy of lightweight RCCM grades ranging between 80 and 120 g/m². The company's PM 5 has a web width of 5 m and can produce some 220-230,000 tpy of Wellenstoff and Testliner in basis weights ranging from 120 to 190 g/m².

Schoellershammer is targeting a total production of 420,000 tpy in 2017.
