Smurfit Kappa may close Nanterre mill for good

French Nanterre mill of Smurfit Kappa Group may face closure. According to Patrick Lamarque, a company spokesperson, Smurfit Kappa has started the procedure for the final closure of the mill which has been idle for a total of 18 months since April 2009. He said the staff representatives had been called to a meeting on 17 March when the project would be subject to an initial assessment. 106 employees would reportedly be affected by the rationalisation measure. The jobs are planned to be axed as of June 2011.
