Stora Enso invests in fluff pulp capacity at Skutskär mill

Stora Enso will divert 160,000 tpy of pulp capacity from NBSK to fluff pulp. €27m investment at the Skutskär pulp mill targets growing demand from the hygiene products market.

Stora Enso announces it will invest approximately €27m to increase fluff pulp production capacity at the Skutskär pulp mill in Sweden. According to the company, the investment targets increasing demand for fluff pulp from the non-wovens and personal care products markets.

Stora Enso Skutskär mill employs 330 people and produces 540,000 of bleached softwood and hardwood paper and fluff pulp. The investment is said to be completed during the second quarter of 2018 and increase fluff pulp capacity by 160,000 t to 415,000 tpy. The mill's softwood pulp capacity is to be reduced by 160,000 tpy starting from year 2018.
