No damage to TM 2 and no casualties reported; supplies to customers will not be affected.

The Navigator Company, formerly Portucel Soporcel, has informed that its tissue mill in Vila Velha de Rodao in Portugal has been hit by a fire on 3 May. The fire, which started in the early afternoon, was tackled by several fire brigades from the Castelo Branco district and could be limited to the paper production area "without causing any damage to paper machine number 2," according to the company.

"The fire did not damage the converting area or any of the finished product warehouses, and the mill´s normal operations and regular supply to customers will not be affected," the Navigator Company said.

Navigator Tissue Rodao runs two tissue machines with a total production capacity of 60,000 tpy. The new Toscotec-supplied TM 2 was commissioned in September last year.
