Tranlin's $2bn production site in Chesterfield County, Virginia, to produce pulp, tissue and fertilisers from wheat straw.
Tranlin Inc, the US based subsidiary of China's Shandong Tranlin Paper Company, has changed its name to Vastly. The new name is said to capture in a better way the company's mission and its growing aspirations.
Vastly plans to build an integrated production and converting site for pulp, tissue paper and products and fertilisers in the Chesterfield County in the US state of Virginia. The company puts the total investment at $2bn.
The company has recently awarded a contract to Jacobs Engineering Group to lead permit acquisition and provide design services for the greenfield project. "Under the terms of the agreement, Jacobs is responsible for supporting permit acquisition and developing the overall site design, which includes pulping facilities, tissue making and fertilizer production using Vastly’s proprietary technology. When complete, the plant will convert wheat straw into paper products and utilize residual nutrient streams to produce soil amendments," the US technical and construction services provider Jacobs explained in a press release.
According to the Virginia governor's office, the Tranlin pulp and paper project will create 2,000 new jobs by 2020.
