Uncoated fine paper prices to go up in France

Talks about price increases for coated and uncoated fine papers in France were still ongoing at the end of March, with first contracts being inked in the uncoated paper segment.

Suppliers of coated and uncoated fine papers announced they wanted to charge more in France for April deliveries.

At the end of March it emerged that mark-ups for woodfree uncoated paper might emerge, albeit not as dramatic as those sought by producers. First agreements with higher prices have been inked, but the increase was lower than announced, according to market insiders.

In the woodfree coated paper segment, talks were still ongoing. Hardly any buyers have confirmed paying more. Not all paper producers seem to be demanding higher prices with strong determination, for fear of losing orders.
