UPM shuts down PM 3 at Ettringen mill, UPM Myllykoski paper mill closes next week

UPM will permanently shut down the PM 3 at the Ettringen mill in Germany as of 14 December. In addition, overlapping supply-chain and paper sales operations and functions at UPM's German mills in Ettringen, Plattling and Huerth are being restructured. According to UPM, a total of 78 people is affected by the restructuring measures. Personnel negotiations will start in January 2012.

In December, paper production is to be permanently ceased at the UPM Myllykoski paper mill in Kouvola, Finland, as well. The closure of the Kouvola mill, which employs 371 people, is scheduled for the next week, says UPM. Myllykoski paper mill runs three paper machines with a combined production capacity of 600,000 tpy of LWC and SC paper. PM 3 at the German Ettringen mill offers a capacity of 110,000 tpy of newsprint.
