UWF prices under pressure in Germany

|

In light of weak demand in the last two months, prices for uncoated woodfree paper have recently softened in Germany. UWF paper suppliers, however, are still convinced that the situation will stabilise again in the next month. Production stoppages should pave the way for this, they believe.

The lack of volumes from the closed Biberist mill as well as the expected revival of demand in September raised hopes among suppliers that the summer lull would remain "just an intermezzo without any major impacts on pricing”. A number of manufacturers had already informed their customers about price hikes of up to 8% for August/September.
