Woodfree uncoated paper prices coming under pressure in Poland

|

The majority of manufacturers in Poland did not succeed in their attempts to raise prices for woodfree uncoated paper in September and October. The negative trend in demand and surplus supply made it hard for a few market players to hold on to UWF paper prices that they had previously been able to charge in Polish zloty. Manufacturers sometimes had to swallow price cuts of around PLN50/t.

Just a few companies manufacturing outside Poland claim to have slightly lifted their prices in zloty without raising the overall price level. These mark-ups are said to bitterly needed after the Polish currency lost around 12% of its value against the euro this year.
