Corrugated packaging group Progroup has secured a new partner for the packaging park at its corrugated sheet feeder plant PW05 in Schüttorf.
In future, the site will be operated together with Akarton, Progroup announced on 10 March.
Akarton will take over converting operations in the hall directly adjacent to the PW05 plant, which is connected to the corrugator via an intralogistics system. The space had become available after the previous cooperation partner ended its activities at the site. The partnership with Akarton is reportedly intended to strengthen Progroup’s network of independent packaging manufacturers and support further growth at the site.
Akarton and Progroup have already been linked since the beginning of the year. In January, JH Holding GmbH, the owner of Progroup AG, announced that it had taken a minority stake in the company. The corrugated packaging site in Schüttorf is now to be operated jointly with Akarton.
Headquartered in Landau in the southwest of Germany, Progroup is one of Europe’s leading producers of containerboard and corrugated formats. The company operates production sites in six countries in Central Europe, including three paper mills and 14 corrugated sheet feeder plants, as well as a logistics company and two waste-to-energy power plants. Progroup employs around 1,780 people and generated sales of approximately €1.3bn in 2024.
