High energy costs force Hamburger Containerboard to reduce production in July.
Hamburger Containerboard has announced to cut containerboard production by 20,000 t in July. Quickly rising prices for energy are making production economically unviable, the company said. On top of rising energy costs, prices for starch, chemicals, logistics and recovered paper were rising too, Hamburger added.
The company already warned at the end of June of possible production stops due to high costs.
