More downtime will follow if necessary, the company says.

German paper and board producer Leipa Georg Leinfelder will take downtime for one week on its PM 5 which produces white uncoated testliner. The company said that the order situation has become somewhat weaker and inventories at customers have been building up. The temporary shutdown in the third full week in June will take about 10,000 tonnes of production out of the market, Leipa explained.

If the market did not return to normal in the coming weeks, it would react by taking more downtime on both paper machines, PM 3 and PM 5, in the following months, Leipa said. The company assured that supply to its customers would not be affected by downtime on its machines.

Leipa produces white testliner on two paper machines with a combined annual capacity of around 700,000 tonnes.
