German technology group Voith has received an order from Spanish corrugated case material manufacturer Matías Gomá Tomás to modernise the company's paper machine at its mill in La Riba not far from Barcelona.

The aim of the rebuild is to improve paper quality and to expand the machine's production capacity.

The site's PM 1, which has a wire width of 5,150 mm, currently has an output of 100,000 tpy of recycled corrugated case material. The rebuild will increase the machine's capacity to 110,000 tpy, according to Voith.

The modernised paper machine is scheduled to go into operation in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Matías Gomá Tomás was founded in 1956. In 2005, the company joined the Grupo Industrial CL group of companies, which comprises 28 Spanish subsidiaries in different sectors such as the packaging, chemical or energy sectors.
