Metsä Board has announced that it will start negotiations on possible temporary layoffs at its board and BCTMP mills in Finland.

The negotiations will take place between 11 and 22 November and will affect a total of 1,100 employees at the Joutseno, Kaskinen, Kemi, Kyro, Tampere, Simpele and Äänekoski mills, the company informed. The possible layoffs would last a maximum of 90 days and could be implemented in several stages during 2025.

With the change negotiations, the company is preparing to temporarily adjust production to low delivery volumes in case the demand situation does not improve in 2025. The allocation, amount and timing of possible layoffs will be determined during 2025.
