After several delays, the new containerboard machine at Model's Eilenburg site in Germany started up at the beginning of September.
Model had acquired the former Stora Enso Sachsen site in mid-2021 and announced plans to convert the paper mill from newsprint to recycled containerboard production.
The conversion works started in August 2023, with commissioning originally scheduled for April 2024.
At full capacity, the 9.40 m wide plant will be able to produce 600,000 tpy of containerboard in basis weights from 70 to 120 g/m².
