Metsä Tissue's tissue mill in Kreuzau, Germany is fully running again. Production at the site had been standing still or reduced since the morning of 28 August when a fire broke out in the area of the steam power plant. In the late evening of the same day, production was restarted on a limited basis while it has reportedly been back in full swing since 30 August.

The fire did not spread to other buildings and no one was injured in the blaze, the company reports. The areas damaged by the fire are currently being repaired, and this work is expected to be completed by the weekend. "The extent of the damage cannot yet be conclusively quantified," Metsä Tissue said.

The tissue production and converting plant in Kreuzau has 400 employees and is Metsä Tissue’s biggest site in Germany. It operates four tissue machines with a combined capacity of 150,000 tpy, nine converting lines and two deinking plants.
