CEO Michele Bianchi: "Working to overcome the difficulties caused by the production stoppage".

Italian cartonboard producer Rendo de Medici is resuming operations at its Villa Santa Lucia mill at the beginning of the new year. The company said that the restart was scheduled for today, 2 January 2023, after more than four months of imposed stoppage.

The plant, producing white-lined chipboard on one machine, was stopped in late August following a forced closure of the local sewage treatment plant which is extensively used by the mill. The company did not comment on the recent events at the mill but official documentation available suggested that RDM was urged to take action and improve its emissions before the mill was allowed to go on stream again.

RDM group CEO Michele Bianchi said in a statement that the restart would not be easy given the many difficulties caused by the imposed production stoppage, concerning the mill's economic profile as well as employment and reputation.

The Villa Santa Lucia mill operation one board machine for white-lined chipboard (WLC) which has an output capacity of about 220.000 tpy.
