The transaction has received green light by the Polish competition authority. The acquisition will boost the group's production capacity by 420,000 tpy of corrugated case material and 530 million m² of corrugated products, Saica explained.
Spanish recycling, paper and packaging company Saica group has finalised the acquisition of Schumacher Packaging's business and assets in Poland as of 31 October 2024, following the clearance by the Polish competition authority. The transaction is completed and the integration process is starting, Saica announced.
Saica has acquired all Schumacher Packaging activities in Poland, including two corrugated board and packaging plants, two recycled containerboard mills and three service centres, and taken over the entire management and all employees. Schumacher Packaging had 1,540 people in Poland and generated a turnover of €327m euros last year. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
The acquisition will boost Saica's business in Poland, and support the company in further developing its infrastructure and services on the markets in Central and Eastern Europe, Saica said.
