Belgium's VPK Group will soon commission its newly rebuilt recycled containerboard machine in Alizay. The company informed EUWID that the project, due to be concluded in the first quarter, was on schedule and that commercial production would start at the end of the first or beginning of the second quarter.
The rebuilt machine has a capacity of 450,000 tpy of recycled corrugated case material.
VPK acquired the Alizay site from Double A in mid-2021 and started conversion of the machine, which formerly produced woodfree uncoated paper with a capacity of 300,000 tpy, in the second half of 2022. The mill also houses a corrugated board plant. A new corrugator was already commissioned in November 2022. According to VPK, the corrugated board produced is to be used for packaging production within the group but will also be sold on the open market.
