UPM looks into options for temporary layoffs in Finland

UPM Communication Papers is looking into potential production cuts for its Finnish paper mills.

The company confirmed to EUWID that negotiations with employee representatives were currently underway.

According to UPM, the aim is to create a framework to be able to resort to the instrument of temporary layoffs whenever the market situation requires such steps. In this context, UPM emphasises that no decisions or concrete plans are associated with these negotiations.

UPM Communication Papers is the world's leading producer of graphic papers. The company's four Finnish mills Rauma, Kymi, Kaukas and Jämsänkoski produce coated and uncoated printing and writing papers as well as coated and uncoated catalogue and magazine papers.
