Valmet will supply a containerboard line to Eren Paper’s Shotton Mill in the UK. Start-up of the new machine is scheduled for the second quarter of 2024.

Eren Paper Ltd. has placed an order with technology group Valmet for the delivery of an OCC and a stock preparation line as well as the new containerboard machine (PM 3) for the Turkish group's mill in Shotton.

The board machine with a 10,110-mm-wide fabric will produce testliner and fluting grades with basis weight ranges of 70 to 135 g/m2. The design speed of the machine will be 1,700 m/min and the annual capacity approximately 650,000 t of 100 per cent recycled containerboard.

While Valmet did not disclose the value of the order, the company stated that a project of this size and scope was typically valued at around €150-170m.

"Shotton’s new container board machine will make our paper mill the largest and most technologically advanced paper mill in the UK. We chose a board making line with high performance, high speed, and higher production rates,” says Hamdullah Eren, Chairman of Board, Eren Paper/Modern Karton.
