Wepa group plans to invest substantially in UK’s Bridgend paper mill with the focus on building a new tissue machine. According to a press release, the TM will be rated to produce 70,000 tpy of sanitary paper.
The mill will also see the addition of two new conversion lines and a full upgrade of pallet-handling at the site. Wepa plans to implement the investment within two years.
The goal of the investment is to increase capacity, efficiency and sustainability of the paper mill. New technologies will be implemented to significantly reduce water and energy consumption in paper production. The new TM will be able to produce higher volumes of tissue from recovered paper. Wepa submitted the application to build the machine at the end of 2024.
Wepa already operates one TM and 7 converting lines at the Bridgend site, and employs 345 persons. The mill produces toilet paper and kitchen wipes for the British consumer market.
