Zeus completes acquisition of Swanline and Boxmart

Dublin-based packaging company Zeus has announced the acquisition of British packaging groups Swanline and Boxmart in an agreement worth in excess of €25m.

Swanline Group is the UK’s leading trade-only supplier of paper-based materials, print and conversion services to the packaging and point-of-sale sectors, according to Zeus. Established in 2001, Swanline Group is headquartered in Stone, Staffordshire and employs over 150 people. The company has four purpose-built sites housing large format infrastructure, screen and digital printing and converting operations, as well as extensive warehousing and distribution capabilities. Packaging supplier Boxmart, based in Shenstone, Staffordshire, offers gift, retail and e-commerce packaging.

Combined, the two companies generate sales of over €30m and offer packaging solutions for the retail, food and beverage, and ecommerce packaging sectors.

Commenting on today’s announcement, Zeus CEO Keith Ockenden said: "As a combined entity, we have enhanced our reach and offering across the UK, with further opportunity to maximise efficiencies across our distribution and supply chains, whilst broadening our product and service offerings to our existing customers.”

Zeus employs 870 people at 47 locations in 26 countries worldwide, including Ireland, the UK, Germany, Spain, Poland, Eastern Europe, New Zealand, Canada, China and Australia. In the UK, Zeus operates from its new headquarter in Biggleswade.

Zeus expects sales to exceed €400m in 2022.
