AzkoNobel entered into a cooperation agreement in China with Quangxi CAVA Titanium Industry Co. Ltd. in order to build a new titanium dioxide (TiO2) production facility. The company already announced a capacity increase in 2005 as a response to Southeast Asia’s growing demand. According to earlier reports, AkzoNobel is prepared to invest a total of $1bn in the site. The facility is designed to produce around 200,000 tpy. It was initially scheduled to be commissioned in 2010, but at the time relevant approvals from the local government were not granted.
