Blue Heron Paper to permanently cease production

|

Blue Heron Paper announced the closure of its sole facility in Oregon city. The company, which has been under creditor protection since 31 December 2009, said it would permanently stop production at the mill in a few days. 175 employees are affected by the measure. Mike Siebers, President of Blue Heron Paper, said that increased recovered paper prices made it impossible to secure profitability. Blue Heron Paper is an employee-owned company which produces newsprint, high brites, bag, towel and specialty papers with an annual capacity of around 220,000 t.
