Against the backdrop of production curtailments at various mills as well as the closure of the Biberist facility in Switzerland, market players believed that August would not see any further price reductions on the German market for coated woodfree paper. However, their expectations did not prove to be correct. Following reductions of about €20/t in July, August saw additional price cuts in the CWF segment. These reductions reportedly affected sheets rather than reels, for which demand is currently higher.
