Coated woodfree paper manufacturers in France, especially those running non-integrated mills, are facing strong cost pressure and feel that the higher prices they are asking for are absolutely essential. But buyers are putting up opposition because many of them are not able to pass on higher prices with ease and are said to be in a tough financial position. Some producers said that the mark-up was all but done, albeit not by the full amount that they have asked for. In several other cases price talks were still continuing until the middle of April.
